The world demands so much from us, but we can’t give what we don’t have.
To be able to care for our families, friends and communities, we need to be filled before we can give. We are to be filled with:
Love - And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up. (Deuteronomy 6:5-7)
Peace - Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)
Patience - Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord. (Psalm 27:14)
Wisdom - If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone. Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind. (James 1:5-6)
Consistency - We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ. (2 Corinthians 10:5)
Common Sense - My child, don’t lose sight of common sense and discernment. Hang on to them, for they will refresh your soul. They are like jewels on a necklace. (Proverbs 3:21-22)
We need to be intentional with ourselves. It takes time and effort to affect change and habits, but so worth it to become what God wants us to be. We can start incorporating regular habits into our lives:
Quiet Time - fellowship with God to hear Him speak to us
Prayer - conversation with God to share our lives, concerns, praises with Him
Bible Study - learn and study His word and apply it into our lives
Worship - recognize who God is and His character and give Him praise
Support from Others - form friendships with other people
Time for Yourself – schedule time to be alone to think, reflect, do something that you enjoy, regroup, refocus
God wants us to be women of strength…
A strong woman works out every day to keep her body in shape ... but a woman of strength kneels in prayer to keep her soul in shape.
A strong woman isn't afraid of anything ... but a woman of strength shows courage in the midst of her fear.
A strong woman won't let anyone get the best of her ... but a woman of strength gives the best of her to everyone.
A strong woman walks sure-footedly ... but a woman of strength knows God will catch her when she falls.
A strong woman wears the look of confidence on her face ... but a woman of strength wears grace.
A strong woman has faith that she is strong enough for the journey ... but a woman of strength has faith that it is in the journey that she will become strong...
